This landmark renewable energy project is Australia’s first eight-hour Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) installation. Alongside the Limondale solar farm, the BESS will connect to the existing 33kV transmission line.
Miglic MacLeod proudly delivered the structural and civil design for the BESS, which is comprised of many Tesla Megapack batteries and is located near Balranald in NSW. The Limondale BESS has an installed capacity of 50 MW that can be supplied for a duration of eight hours.
Miglic MacLeod worked with delivery partner EHV to generate and analyse several design options before agreeing the concepts for the structural and civil design. Miglic MacLeod delivered the structural and civil design that considered:
The Limondale BESS will support the energy transition by storing excess renewable energy and feeding it into the NSW grid when it is needed most.
