Port Melbourne Football Club

Port Melbourne Football Club sporting and community facility is a single storey building project providing a multipurpose space for both the club and the community. Commissioned by the local City of Port Phillip Council, the facility includes a 200 person capacity function room, administration offices and stores, meeting and conference rooms and a commercial kitchen and bar.

The architect’s design merges an environmentally sustainable approach with striking architecture. Timber is used throughout the building as a signature feature, with long span timber trusses covering the entire function space and forming feature angles to the front.

Miglic MacLeod was engaged to provide structural engineering services with a focus on simplicity and sustainability. Our capable and responsive team responded to the challenge and put our technical skills and experience to work.

The structural engineering components of the project included:

• Screw pile footings with steel and timber floor framing
• Long span timber roof trusses
• Timber wall framing.

Miglic MacLeod achieved the aims of the project, developing the simple and sustainable design for the structural works, providing the certificate of compliance for building approval purposes, and delivering the required construction stage services reliably and efficiently.
